If you’ve spent at least three, maybe four decades on this planet, you’ve come to realize a couple of hard truths about life. Close to the pinnacle of that “life lessons’ list” is the undeniable truth that debt problems, that get swept under the carpet, do not magically disappear. All that happens is that our money troubles (which often are small enough to resolve early on) mount up until the bulge in the carpet is so big, we start having to walk around it, as we open up the front door every evening after work.

“Mind the mountain of debt problems in the hallway, kids. It’s just mommy and daddy’s unresolved stuff over the last 10 years…”

It’s human nature to procrastinate and avoid having to deal with the real issues that are right in front of our faces. “Oh, I’m just too busy to get around to doing it now” is our reflex response to anything that’s going to take us out of our comfort zone and drop us into a less than ideal situation.

But is procrastination the only culprit here?

Our pride and overinflated ego generally get in the way of most common-sense decisions we ought to be making, but don’t. Collectively they have the loudest voices amongst all the constant chatter going on in our mind 24/7 and are always in an arm wrestle for pole position at the mic stand.

“Excuse us…Coming through… It’s Mr. Pride and Mrs. Ego here to run the show for the next little while. Will the rest of you please pipe down for a second?” Here is a little secret we already know, but all of us need a reminder occasionally.

Most people are only interested in themselves, but the people who do care about us only want the best for us. Are you prepared to run yourself into the ground financially and teeter on the brink of bankruptcy because you are worried about what “the other people” in your life will think?

In the last year, we have entered 1000 over-indebted South African into a legitimate legal process called Debt Review and saved them around R5 000 per month in debt repayments. The one thing all these people have in common is that they acknowledged they needed some help and decided to act immediately.

“Life just happens” and sometimes you just end up in a financial jam. The good news is that we are ready to pull down your credit details from the credit bureau for free and have a chat with you over WhatsApp to see if we can reduce your debt repayments by +/- 50%.
